Chase history to Kennesaw, GA, with an exciting educational student field trip or group tour for any age! The Museum provides a fun learning experience for student field trips, scout groups, Civil War interest and train clubs, senior citizen groups and other community organizations.
Educational Student Field Trips:
For Pre-K — 3rd Grade:
A) Modes of Transportation
Price: $5 per person

Grades Pre-K Tour Size: 10 - 40 students (1 – 1 ½ hrs)
Grades K & 1st Tour Size: 25 - 100 students (1 ½ - 2 hrs)
Discover how people and freight are moved in America through stories, exploration of the museum’s exhibits and a hands-on activity.
B) Civil War Soldier’s Life
Price: $6 per person
Available: Monday - Friday
Grades 2nd & 3rd Tour Size: 25 - 200 students (1 ½ - 2 hrs)
Experience the impact of the tragic Civil War like never before! Become a Civil War spy, hear the daring exploits of Andrews Raiders and write a letter detailing your adventure.
C) Gears and Wheels Coming February 2009!
Price: $5 per person
Available: Monday - Friday

Grades K & 1st Tour Size: 25 - 100 students (1 ½ - 2 hrs)
Investigate how gears and wheels make machines work by exploring the museum’s exhibits and creating a working model.
D) Railroad Workers Coming February 2009!

Discover the many people who work on the railroad. Listen to a story, explore the museum’s exhibits and complete a creative activity.
E) Our Historic Community Coming February 2009!

Find out the many fascinating workers necessary for our community to function in the past. Explore the museum’s exhibits and complete a creative activity.
F) Decoding the Past Coming February 2009!
Price: $6 per person
Available: Monday - Friday
Grades: 2nd & 3rd Tour Size: 25 - 200 students (2 – 2 ½ hrs)
Unravel the mystery behind historical textbooks and museum exhibits by searching for clues in museum exhibits and become an archaeologist to unearth hidden historical treasures.
For 4th – 12th Grades:
A) A Nation Divided
Grades: 4th – 12th
Price: $6 per person
Tour Size: 25 – 200 students
Available: Monday – Friday (2 – 2 ½ hrs)
Experience the impact of the tragic Civil War like never before! Become a Civil War spy, hear the daring exploits of Andrews Raiders, try typical family chores and discover the stories of real 19th Century objects and documents.
B) Railroads Move a Nation
Grades: 4th – 12th
Price: $5 per person
Tour Size: 25 - 200 students
Available: Monday – Friday (2 – 2 ½ hrs)
Discover how railroads connected America’s two coasts and help settle the West. Become a railroad engineer, hear about the importance of railroads in wartime, send a telegraph and use real railroad objects and documents.
C) Industrialized America
Grades: 4th – 12th
Price: $5 per person
Tour Size: 25 - 200 students
Available: Monday – Friday (2 – 2 ½ hrs)
Investigate the impact of the industrial revolution on 19th Century Americans. Become a Civil War spy, see first-hand the new technology of wartime, send a telegraph and experience the economic struggle of a 19th Century factory worker using real 19th Century objects and documents.
D) History Detectives of Georgia Coming February 2009!
Grades: 8th – 12th
Price: $6 per person
Tour Size: 25 - 50 students
Available: Monday - Friday (1 ½ - 2 hrs)
Become a historical detective to uncover the clues of original museum artifacts and documents. Search for clues in the clothing, photographs, machines and everyday objects in the museum to unravel the mystery behind historical textbooks and museum exhibits.
E) Museum Highlights Tour
Grades: 4th – 12th
Price: $5 per person
Tour Size: 10-200 students
Available: 7 days a week (1 ½ - 2 hrs)
Visit the museum’s permanent exhibits with a tour guide.
F) Teacher Led Tour
All Grade Levels Price: $4 per person
Tour Size: 10 - 100 students
Available: 7 days a week (1 hr minimum)
Explore the museum on your own with your students.
Adult Group Tours
Available 7 days a week for groups of 10 – 200.
A) Senior Group Rate (60 and over)
Price: $5 per person
B) Adult Group Rate
Price: $6 per person
C) Guided Tours available for an additional $1 per person
Choose between a Gallery Host to greet and answer questions or a fully guided tour by a Museum Interpreter.
To Make a Reservation:
- Reservations must be made a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. Tours are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. It is advised to make your reservations early during fall and spring tour seasons.
- Educational Field Trips: 1 teacher or chaperone is admitted free per 10 students.
- Adult Groups: The bus driver and tour leader receive complimentary admission.
- Groups are welcome to picnic on the Museum’s lawn with limited indoor facilities available.
- Boxed lunches are available through the Museum’s preferred caterers. (View Adriane’s Delectables' Menu, View Cocoa Bean Cafe Menu).
- Pre-visit and post-visit lesson plans using the Georgia Performance Standards are available for Educational Field Trips.
- A special museum store grab bag is available for groups booked for an Educational Student Field Trip. Details are available from the Group Tours Office and must be ordered 1 week prior to your visit.
