Most complete Civil War battlefield of the 1864 Atlanta campaign. More than 11 miles of original earthworks are preserved within the park's 2900 acres.

Kolb’s Farm
Today the home that sits on the corner of Powder Springs Road and Calloway Road in Marietta, Georgia, is better known not for the construction or restoration, but for the battle that occurred in the vicinity of the house in 1864, The Battle of Kolb's Farm. The farmhouse built by Peter Valentine Kolb in 1836 reflects a wealthy lifestyle unusual in North Georgia at the time.

Whether you are looking for a place to have an afternoon picnic, go hiking, or enjoy a day or water sports, there are a variety of recreation areas in and around Kennesaw. Several lakes, parks, and mountains provide fun for the whole family.

Lake Allatoona, Lake Acworth and Lake Lanier
Within easy accessibility from Kennesaw are Lake Allatoona, Lake Acworth and Lake Lanier. Each of these provides a wide array of sport and outdoor activities. Seasonal festivities and events are also prevalent.

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
The park covers 16 land units and a 48 mile stretch of the river. Numerous smaller parks dot the landscape of the metro area. Activities include fishing, hiking, picnicking, and boating, and the park also contains a variety of natural habitats, flora and fauna, nineteenth century historic sites, and Native American archeological sites.

Shootin’ the Hooch
One of metro Atlantans' favorite activities, "Shootin' the 'Hooch" is a fun-filled day of rafting down the Chattahoochee River. The ride is mostly relaxing, with a few exciting areas of whitewater. Rafting is available at the Johnson Ferry, Powers Island and Paces Mill units of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The Silver Comet Trail
The Silver Comet Trail is open to bicyclists, walkers, joggers, rollerbladers and every non-motorized mode of transportation. Situated along nearly 13 miles of abandoned railroad tracks in south Cobb County, the multi-use Silver Comet Trail is dotted with pocket parks, gorgeous scenery and four trailheads with ample parking.
